One of the biggest days on the school calendar, International Day, was celebrated last Saturday. It was wonderful to see the school community gather together, proudly dressed to represent their home country – or the county people felt an affinity towards. The day began with the Parade of Nations and was followed by performances from various countries, sampling of delicious cuisines, and playing traditional games. The cooking demonstrations, dances, artwork and other interactive activities allowed people to immerse themselves in the cultural joys of countries they perhaps hadn’t previously known about. Everyone left at the end of the celebration with big smiles, full bellies, a souvenir or two of their day, and a greater appreciation of the diversity that is the IGBIS community.
