Mathematics Teacher

IGB International School (IGBIS) is looking for a Mathematics Teacher to start as soon as possible. This role is open to experienced teachers and also newly qualified teachers. You will responsible for teaching Mathematics at all levels across the secondary school. With your wide breadth of teaching knowledge and experience, you should also be able to teach an additional subject. The school prides itself on its dedicated, professional and friendly team. In general, you are able to carry out the following responsibilities:

  • Teach classes according to the curriculum guidelines
  • Prepare a yearly scheme of work as well as termly and weekly plans for the classes to be taught
  • Work in conjunction with colleagues to ensure an interdisciplinary approach to learning
  • Design appropriate learning strategies to deliver the curriculum
  • Supervise, and where possible instruct, students in extra classroom activities such as sports and games, trips and clubs
  • Participate in regular duties outside lesson times
  • Set and mark class work/homework according to the schedule
  • Offer all students equal opportunities to learn and maintain an environment in which no student is exposed to discriminatory behaviour
  • Undertake tasks associated with the ongoing development of the school’s curriculum.
  • Create a classroom environment conducive to the development of critical and creative learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
  • Manage student behaviour in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and the Student Handbook.
  • Help students analyse and improve study methods and habits
  • Help students develop the skills in the IB Learner Profile

It is essential that you demonstrate the following:

  • Degree in Mathematics or related subject with experience
  • Ability to teach at Secondary School level, KS3, KS4, KS5 (IB experience is desirable)
  • A genuine passion for Mathematics, and the ability to motivate and inspire interest in the subject area
  • QTS (qualified teacher status)
  • 2-3 years’ experience of learner centred classroom strategies in relevant subject area
  • 2-3 years’ teaching post qualified teacher status with the appropriate age level/ subject
  • Experience in international education preferably in IB Programmes

Japanese Language Teacher (Part Time)

Responsibilities:

  • Design appropriate learning strategies to deliver the curriculum

  • Undertake tasks associated with the ongoing development of the school’s curriculum.
  • Create a classroom environment conducive to the development of critical and creative learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
  • Manage student behaviour in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and the Student Handbook.
  • Help students develop the skills in the IB Learner Profile
  • Conduct ongoing assessments of student achievement through formal and informal assessment.
  • Participate in staff development activities to improve job related skills
  • Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
  • Participate in staff meetings, training days, parent-teacher conference and school functions according to the published schedule
  • Keep records of student progress, and write reports as when required
  • Undertake any other reasonable requests made by line manager

Requirements:

  • Full qualified teacher status
  • Degree level qualifications in the specific subject area
  • 2-3 years’ teaching post qualified teacher status with the appropriate age level/ subject
  • Experience in international education preferably in IB Programmes
  • Has current First Aid Training
  • Ability to instruct students and manage student behaviour
  • Ability to communicate with parents before and after school hours
  • Able to work independently

Recruitment Prerequisites

  • Candidates are required to have a university degree, a recognised teaching qualification and three years of teaching experience.
  • Experience of teaching in one or more IB programme is preferred however teachers who have worked with inquiry models of teaching will also be considered.
