Elementary School

Primary/Elementary School Language Teacher (Chinese and Malay) (Full time)

Responsibilities:

  •  Work in an international school setting, which provides a comprehensive program to meet educational, emotional, social, health, nutritional, and psychological needs of children

  • Teach classes according to the curriculum guidelines

  • Design appropriate learning strategies to deliver the curriculum

  • Participate in regular duties outside lesson times

  • Offer all students equal opportunities to learn and maintain an environment in which no student is exposed to discriminatory behaviour

  • Undertake tasks associated with the ongoing development of the school’s curriculum.

  • Create a classroom environment conducive to the development of critical and creative learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.

  • Manage student behaviour in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and the Student Handbook.

  • Plan and maintain a safe, clean, learning environment and ensuring the wellbeing and safety of the children in his/her care

  • Help students analyse and improve study methods and habits

  • Participate in staff development activities to improve job related skills

  • Establish and maintain open communication by conducting conferences with students, parents, teachers and the Principals

  • Participate in staff meetings, training days, parent-teacher conference and school functions according to the published schedule

  • Keep records of student progress, and write reports as and when required

  • Undertake any other reasonable requests made by line manager

Requirements:

  • Minimum a Bachelor in Chinese Language and Literature Degree, BA Chinese Studies or relevant discipline

  • The ability to teach Bahasa Malaysia is highly desirable

  • 3 years’ teaching post qualified teacher status with the appropriate age level

  • Experience in international education preferably in IB Programmes

  • Has current First Aid Training

  • Ability to instruct students and manage student behaviour

  • Ability to communicate with parents before and after school hours

  • Strong organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to adjust and be flexible to a multitude of situations in the school environment

  • Act as a positive role model for students

  • A keen learner and team player with positive working attitude

  • Able to work independently and multi-task

Secondary School

Japanese Language Teacher (Part Time)

Responsibilities:

  • Teach classes according to the curriculum guidelines
  • Prepare a yearly scheme of work as well as termly and weekly plans for the classes to be taught
  • Work in conjunction with colleagues to ensure an interdisciplinary approach to learning
  • Design appropriate learning strategies to deliver the curriculum
  • Set and mark class work/homework according to the schedule
  • Offer all students equal opportunities to learn and maintain an environment in which no student is exposed to discriminatory behaviour
  • Undertake tasks associated with the ongoing development of the school’s curriculum.
  • Create a classroom environment conducive to the development of critical and creative learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
  • Manage student behaviour in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and the Student Handbook.
  • Help students develop the skills in the IB Learner Profile
  • Conduct ongoing assessments of student achievement through formal and informal assessment.
  • Participate in staff development activities to improve job related skills
  • Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
  • Participate in staff meetings, training days, parent-teacher conference and school functions according to the published schedule
  • Keep records of student progress, and write reports as when required
  • Undertake any other reasonable requests made by line manager

Requirements:

  • Full qualified teacher status
  • Degree level qualifications in the specific subject area
  • 2-3 years’ teaching post qualified teacher status with the appropriate age level/ subject
  • Experience in international education preferably in IB Programmes
  • Has current First Aid Training
  • Ability to instruct students and manage student behaviour
  • Ability to communicate with parents before and after school hours
  • Able to work independently

Whole School

Shadow Teacher

Shadow Teacher will work with teachers to support student(s) who require for special needs assistance. This support may include behaviour management, curriculum implementation, social skills development, personal care and physical assistance

Responsibilities:

  • Working collaboratively with classroom teachers and other school staff to support student learning
  • Working collaboratively with the class teacher to plan, deliver and assess teaching programs
  • Preparing learning materials
  • Encouraging student to be confident and independent
  • Helping student understand instructions
  • Carrying out a child’s care plan (education, social, behaviour and personal)
  • Encouraging student to communicate
  • Giving information and help to teachers
  • Supporting student during social activities and outings
  • Helping student during therapy sessions
  • Recognising when student is upset and comforting him/her
  • Looking after student’s physical needs
  • Keeping records

Requirements:

  • Candidate must possess at least a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in special needs education, nursery nursing, teaching assistance, childcare or play work
  • At least 2-3 year(s) of working experience in the similar field. Previous work experience in a Special Educational Needs setting would be a definite advantage
  • Good ICT skills and willingness to use/train in new technologies
  • Strong communication skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia
  • Be a patient and positive role model for children

Recruitment Prerequisites

  • Candidates are required to have a university degree, a recognised teaching qualification and three years of teaching experience.
  • Experience of teaching in one or more IB programme is preferred however teachers who have worked with inquiry models of teaching will also be considered.
