Thank you for considering IGBIS for your child’s education, we understand how important a decision this is for your family. Each year we are grateful for the IGBIS families that entrust the care of their children to us; it is a responsibility we take very seriously and that we enjoy very much!

The IGBIS school year consists of two semesters. The first semester commences in mid-August and the second semester at the end of January/beginning of February. It is recommended that students start their application process early to start school at the beginning of a semester for a smoother transition; however, students are accepted on a rolling basis throughout the year.

Application

To apply for admission to IGBIS, please submit a full application online. If you are unable to complete an application online, please reach out to us directly at +603 6145 4688 and we can help you through the process, especially if language is a barrier.

Required Documentation

Please use the following checklist as a guide to submitting the required documentation as only completed files can be considered:

  • completed online application form;
  • application fee (RM 1000) paid;
  • medical form (online or paper copy);
  • copies of school reports for the previous 24 months. A certified English translation is required for reports not originally issued in English;
  • a colour copy of the applicant’s passport (personal details page and visa page) OR MyKad/My Kid for Malaysian students. For students who do not have a passport or MyKid, please submit a copy of the applicant’s Malaysian birth certificate;

  • a recent passport-style photo of each student applicant (uploaded in the application form). This will become their initial school picture and used for the ID card;
  • recent passport-style photos of each parent/legal guardian (uploaded in the application form). This will become the initial school picture and used for parent/guardian ID cards; and
  • any documentation relating to additional services your child is receiving or has received over the past five years. For example, an IEP/ISP; an educational-psychological evaluation; speech and language reports; OT reports etc. Please note that this information is integral to us ensuring that we can support your child, failure to share these documents may jeopardise the application.

Please label all files in a way that describes the content.

  • Example include:

  • Huang Mei – Passport.jpg
  • Elaine Jones – student photo.png

Please ensure that your application package is 100% complete. If for some reason this is not possible, please contact us to figure out a solution. Only completed applications will progress to the next stage of the admissions process.

Parents/guardians will be notified once the student’s complete application and documents have been received.

Interview & Assessment

After an initial review of the application, your child may be invited to undertake an admissions assessment and to have an interview with a member of the school team, usually one of the Division Principals. Parents are asked to accompany their child to the interview.

The School conducts assessments for students in Grade 3 and above at this stage to determine the abilities of the applicants to ensure that we are a fit for them, and them a fit for us.

If you are overseas, the interview can be conducted online, along with most assessments. In the event of an online assessment, an administrator in your child’s current school (arranged by the applying family) will be required to invigilate assessments from Grade 3 and above.

Students with identified English Language Support (ESOL) or Learning Support needs are referred to the Head of Student Services Support for further follow up as necessary.

Admissions Decision

The admissions committee will review your child’s complete application and assessment and make a decision about acceptance to IGBIS. You will then be advised of the admissions committee’s decision, the grade level placement and start date.

Acceptance

If your child is offered a place at IGBIS, you will receive a letter of acceptance outlining the following:

  • deadline for accepting the offer (usually two weeks)
  • how to return the signed terms and conditions form
  • how to pay for enrolment, tuition and any other fees required prior to starting.

Upon return of the acceptance and payment of fees, the admissions office will send further details about orientation, the school calendar, technology purchases (laptops and scientific calculators for Secondary School students), transportation, ID’s, Car stickers and uniforms to start getting you and your child ready for their first day!
