What started out as an activity with a range of students from Grade 6 to Grade 11 has become a growing programme. During the second part of the year we have been running Under 13, Under 15 teams and an Under 18 team.

The teams have had some success winning some games, but mainly getting a lot of exposure to playing in an organised team with positional responsibilities, tactics and strategies and a systematic approach to formation.

We are looking forward to developing the football programme much more next year by incorporating greater focus on football related fitness, skill development and building upon the foundation that has begun this year.

In early November 2014, a group of students from IGBIS travelled to the International School of Kuala Lumpur to play in the school’s first ever competitive match.  These young student-athletes came together as a team and displayed some amazing skills and great sportsmanship.  Their enthusiasm continued throughout the school year with practices and more friendly matches with other schools.  The hard work paid off when the team recorded the school’s first ever victory against Mont’Kiara International School.

The team has learned many lessons this first year. They learned that in sports, just like in the classroom, in order to be successful you need to be risk-taker and also be able to communicate in a positive manner with your coach and your fellow players.
