IGBIS has two libraries, one on the 5th floor for Elementary students and one on the 6th floor for Secondary students. Teachers can book times to come in with their classes and teach in the library. They can work with the Teacher-Librarian to plan and co-teach lessons with their classes, and they bring their students in at other times to highlight the value and importance of reading, by dedicating some class time to it in the Library setting. Students are welcome to come in to study and work independently during the day.
Elementary school classes have a 40-minute library lesson once a week. During this time, the Teacher Librarian reads to the class, helps students to choose books to borrow and read at home and helps students to check books out. The libraries are very popular with both Elementary and Secondary students at lunchtimes, and often their teachers too!
Parents are also welcome to use the library facilities, and are able to borrow up to three books at a time.
The library is open from 7:30am until 4:30pm, Monday to Thursday, and until 4:00pm on Friday.
