Head of School & Governance
Head of School
Thank you for your interest in IGB International School (IGBIS). As the head of school, every day I witness the very special learning environment that is part of the fabric of IGBIS.
Indeed, there’s a special kind of creative energy here at IGBIS that is unique to our school; there’s an incredible spirit of community and diversity of perspectives that come from students, families and staff representing more than 30 nationalities. Our staff alone comes from 18 different nations and speak over 10 languages. These dedicated and inspiring professionals are our most important resource.
Inclusion is central to IGB International School’s mission, and we are proud of the commitment we have made to all of our students’ needs and aspirations. We are committed to maximizing the potential of all the students in our school, and every child is appreciated, welcomed and included. Through this, all of our students also develop “intercultural competence”, the ability to easily navigate and flow between and among different nationalities and complex cultural situations—and to do so with tremendous empathy, diplomacy and tact.
IGBIS is the first and only 4 programme continuum school in Malaysia. Through the IB, we develop the whole human being. Confident young IB learners are courageous in their willingness to question what they observe around them. Students able to take complex and often disparate knowledge, concepts and skills and forge these into new and unique ways of solving problems and adding value to their world.
We make learning relevant and exciting for students, as we continually draw connections between what they learn in the classroom and the real world. Perhaps most importantly, we encourage our young people to reflect on their learning—and to act on it in the service of others. We believe learning must be for action and impact.
I hope you will come visit us and spend some time at the school and experience first hand the unique, vibrant and wonderfully inclusive community that is IGBIS.
