With close to 25 years of teaching experience in the Canadian Arctic, Japan, Honduras, France, and Indonesia, Ms. Katie has worked in a wide range of educational contexts. From the arctic circle, to the paddy fields, her background is unique – and so is her perspective. As a member of the first ever French Immersion class in her small hometown, Ms. Katie credits her extraordinary teachers for instilling an appetite for language and culture, and inspiring her to pursue education as a career. She has taught PYP and MYP as a homeroom and single subject teacher, in both English and French. In addition to her classroom roles, Ms. Katie has held PYP and Wellbeing Coordinator positions. Humility, patience, and compassion guide her approach to leadership. Her empathy extends beyond the classroom with a profound love of animals, both big and small. She also has a deep appreciation for the performing arts, with a passion for music spanning eras and genres.
