Various and Interesting Extracurricular Activities

Activities at IGBIS are an extension of the four IB programmes – PYP, MYP, DP and CP – that create opportunities for students to pursue interests, learn new skills and take action. The well-rounded IB curriculum encourages students to be balanced, and our ECA programme is a reflection of that. On and off the field, our students exemplify what an IB learner truly is by being fair, honest and humble when competing. Our 30-over ECAs per season in each academic year are divided into two main groups – Activities and the Athletics Programme.

Activities are sourced and designed to offer students a variety of opportunities to assist in their personal development; to encourage them to be involved outside the classroom, enjoy spending time and working with others and take on challenges that will help them grow. There are three extracurricular seasons each academic year allowing students the opportunity to vary their experiences.

The Athletics Programme at IGBIS is diverse and provides opportunities for students to train and compete in a number of sports. Teams train both before and after school, with sports varying throughout the year as the sporting seasons change. IGBIS trains and competes in badminton, volleyball, football, basketball, benchball, swimming, cross country and track and field. In addition to competitive clubs, we also offer recreational sports such as cricket, netball, table tennis and touch rugby when student interest exists.

IGBIS, a private school in Kuala Lumpur is a member of two athletic conferences in Kuala Lumpur: AIMS (Association of International Malaysian Schools) and KLSL (Kuala Lumpur Sports League). Being a part of two conferences allows for ample competitive opportunities with neighbouring schools. IGBIS is home to some of the largest sporting facilities in Kuala Lumpur, including a 50m pool that allows us to host multiple swimming invitationals throughout the year. In addition, our spacious sports hall, 400m track and full-sized football pitch enable us to host many other sporting tournaments such as basketball, track and field, football, volleyball, and badminton.
