Aylin Erengul Gregg
MYP English Language Acquisition Teacher
B.A. LINGUISTICS AND M.A. TESOL WITH APPLIED LINGUISTICS
TURKISH
"With over a decade of experience in international education, Aylin has taught and supported multilingual learners across Türkiye, China, Germany, and will continue in Malaysia. As once a learner of English Language herself, she has a personal understanding of the challenges and the rewards of the process - This understanding has a direct positive impact in her practice as an English Language Acquisition teacher. Her passion for teaching English as a Second Language is rooted in empathy, cultural sensitivity, and a firm belief in affirming - not assimilating - students' identities. She aspires to build strong rapport with her learners by creating a safe, inclusive environment where they feel empowered to take risks, make mistakes, and grow in confidence in hopes that these attributes will spread across all other areas in the learners’ academic and personal lives. Stephen Krashen, a renowned linguist and researcher in Second Language Acquisition field, says ""Language acquisition proceeds best when the acquirer is 'open' to the input, not 'on the defensive'; not anxious about performance."" Aylin’s core educational philosophy can merely be inferred from this quote. Beyond the classroom, she is also a mother of three multilingual children, which continuously deepens her appreciation for the joys and challenges of language development. Her teaching is grounded in both professional expertise and the lived experience of navigating language and identity as a language learner herself and as a member of a multicultural family."
