The IGBIS Academic Scholarship recognises and supports students who demonstrate exceptional academic achievement, intellectual curiosity, and a sustained commitment to learning. This scholarship is designed for students who will contribute positively to the academic culture of the school and serve as role models of scholarship, integrity, and balanced engagement. Academic Scholars are expected to enrich our community, uphold high standards, and inspire others through their example.

To be considered for the Academic Scholarship, applicants must:

Demonstrate Academic Excellence:

  • Have a minimum two-year record of outstanding academic performance across all, or the majority of, their subject areas.
  • Show evidence of strong learning behaviours, intellectual curiosity, and a commitment to continuous improvement.

Maintain Academic Standing

  • Continue to demonstrate strong academic achievement at IGBIS with no failing or near-failing grades.
  • Uphold excellent attendance, punctuality, academic integrity, and positive learning behaviours.

Maintain Holistic Engagement

  • Be thoughtful, well-rounded individuals who have contributed meaningfully to their current school community in at least two of the following areas: Academics, Leadership, Service, Sports, or the Arts.

Community Contribution

  • Serve as positive academic role models by participating in school initiatives such as mentoring, academic events, subject-based clubs, competitions, or other scholarly activities as appropriate.

Academic Scholarship Application & Selection Process

The selection process is designed to provide a holistic and accurate picture of each applicant’s abilities, character, and potential.

Academic Records
  • Applicants must submit school reports covering at least the past two years, demonstrating consistently high achievement across subject areas.
Personal Statement
  • A written statement explaining the applicant’s academic interests, motivation, learning values, and how they hope to contribute to the IGBIS community as an Academic Scholar.
Teacher Reference
  • A strong, detailed reference from a current teacher—preferably a core subject teacher—attesting to the applicant’s academic ability, work ethic, character, and potential for further growth.
Interview
  • Shortlisted candidates will be invited to IGBIS for an interview with academic faculty and/or school leadership to assess the student’s academic disposition, reflective capacity, and readiness to contribute to the broader school community.
