This week has been one of those strange weeks when there has been a lot happening but with everything coming to fruition next week.
Our Grade 4’s have been putting their entrepreneurial skills to good use as they have been working on their products for their companies as part of their trade unit. Devising their advertising campaigns and practising all of these.
I look forward to seeing all of the companies in action soon.
Our Grade 2’s have been practising not only for their assembly where they will be sharing all of their learning, but they have been practising their presentation skills in their Grade 2 area as after the assembly on Monday they will be sharing their unit of inquiry learning with their parents. On Friday they took the opportunity to present to the Open Day families, to give them a sneak peek into the life of an IGBIS student.
Next week our Social Council has organised a spring dance. This will take place on Friday, 22 March 2024 from 2:00 pm - 2:50 pm. The theme of the dance is Colour Frenzy. Students can dress up in their colourful crazy clothes instead of wearing uniforms next Friday. I look forward to seeing all those bright clothes. I better hit my wardrobe to plan my outfit!
From the Counselling Team
This month we have focused on persistence and resilience as our mental health theme. This morning (Friday, 15 March 2024) saw our regular monthly Coffee with the Counsellors, where we explored this topic. As always an amazing session because of the interaction, connection and openness of all those involved. A very big thank you to the incredibly dedicated group of parents who come to every session. At the session, we shared 13 different tips to help build perseverance and persistence in ourselves and in our children. If you missed the session and want to find out more, here are the slides.
In Class Lessons
Social Exclusion is always a challenge whether it is with teens, tweens or even adults. The problem is never going to go away if we don't address it. Addressing issues is not about a lecture, it is about good interactive teaching. It was great to work with Grade 6 to try and change behaviour in relation to Social Exclusion. A great lesson, great kids (who sometimes need help to be the best humans they can be).
International Women’s Day
International Women's Day was all about wearing purple to raise awareness, raise funds for disadvantaged women and celebrate the amazing and important women in our lives. Thank you, student ambassadors, especially Chloe for helping to ensure that this happened.
Creating and promoting a caring community is something that is so important to us as counsellors. We believe that so much of what we teach to students comes from what we model or help them initiate. Here at IGBIS, we are so fortunate to have many amazing security guards who help keep us safe every day. Some of the Student Ambassadors personally thanked one of our guards who will be leaving us soon. We need every person in our community who makes a difference to know that they are valued and valuable. You matter! Every person matters!
Have a great weekend.
Best Regards

MSSS Swasta
IGBIS is once again registered with MSSS SWASTA. This association ensures that our Malaysian student-athletes are able to register for MSSS events.
Please note the process:
- See the 2024 schedule of sporting events for the Gombak District. This schedule has NOT been made public yet and will be shared with families when it is released (estimated to come out 23 March 2024)
- Students need to register with the Association independently for the sport of their choice.
- When registering, IGBIS will ‘endorse’ the athlete as being a student at the school
Please do not hesitate to contact Mr Wilson if you have any questions regarding this process and good luck to all our Athletes that take place in these tournaments!
