Leading IB Career-related Programme in Malaysia
The Career-related Programme (CP) is an innovative educational framework for students aged 16 to 19. This is the newest and fastest-growing IB programme. The CP provides students with an excellent foundation to support their further post-secondary studies, as well as ensure their preparedness for success in the workforce. The CP at IGBIS combines highly regarded and internationally recognised IB Diploma Programme (DP) courses with university-level courses and a unique CP core.
CP students engage with a rigorous programme of study that genuinely interests them, while gaining transferable and lifelong skills in applied knowledge, critical thinking, communication and cross-cultural engagement. They are well prepared to succeed at institutions of higher learning or the world of work.

CP is a Dual Enrolment Programme
The CP at IGBIS is a dual enrolment programme in partnership with universities. Students undertake 2-4 IB Diploma Programme (DP) courses at IGBIS and predetermined university courses at the respective university, over the 2 years as part of their career-related studies.
DP Courses
Students must take 2-4 DP courses from the following groups:
- Group 1 Language A (English A or B is mandatory*)
- Group 2 Language B (English A or B is mandatory*)
- Group 3 Individuals and Societies.
- Group 4 Experimental Sciences.
- Group 5 Mathematics (Mandatory*)
- Group 6 Electives + Arts.
*Students are expected to take Mathematics, English A or English B and may choose one or two other subjects.
University Courses
At IGBIS, we offer students a range of field choices with collaborations with universities for CP students. The school has a strong partnership with Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD), which is a well-known University for creative careers in the USA. Beginning in the academic year 2024/25, we have new collaborations for our CP programme, including partnerships with Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU), renowned for its expertise in aviation and aerospace, and Sustainability Management School (SUMAS), specialising in business and sustainability education. IGBIS also has another upcoming collaboration for our CP programme with the World Academy of Sport (WAoS), which has expertise in athlete development, sports management, and global sports education.
There are 5 Dual enrolment programmes within the IBCP offered at IGBIS:
- Art and Design in collaboration with Savannah College of Art and Design in the USA
- Aeronautics and Engineering with Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in the USA (24-25 school year)
- Business and Sustainability with Sustainability Management School in Switzerland (24-25 school year)
- International Sport Management with the World Academy of Sport in the UK
- Interdisciplinary Career Studies with Arizona State University in the USA
Art and Design
International Baccalaureate Career-related Programme (IBCP) students can begin their journey toward an art and design career — and a rewarding creative career — by completing university-level courses at SCAD before beginning full-time studies.
Our partnership with the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) provides a large variety of synchronous, online undergraduate-level university courses that are delivered by SCAD professors and supported by the school. Students are able to take courses related to the Art and Design fields of study and earn university credits.
In addition to the DP courses, students take 5 University courses from Savannah College of Art and Design, which are sequences in the following possible academic pathways:

- Interactive Design and Game Development

Aeronautics and Engineering
Embry-Riddle’s Dual Enrolment Programme allows students to pursue advanced undergraduate courses while completing their CP in the last 2 years of high school.
Credits earned from the Dual Enrolment Programme can be transferred to a range of undergraduate degrees offered by Embry-Riddle, as well as other universities, potentially reducing the time needed to complete an undergraduate degree.

Business and Sustainability
SUMAS Career-related Studies® “Business & Sustainability” are designed for self-confident students, who have a clear idea about their career path. Students will pursue career-related education during the last two years of their high school. This study programme is relevant for all students who are interested in responsible management applicable in different fields.
The SUMAS CrS® aims to provide students with the foundational knowledge on managing sustainability and helps them develop their competencies in becoming responsible leaders.

The World Academy of Sport (WAoS) Career-related Studies “International Sport Management” is designed for students who have a passion for sports and aspire to delve into the dynamic realm of the global sports industry. The courses equivalent to a first-year university degree programme allow students to gain a solid foundation in the multifaceted world of sports management.
The WAoS CrS, International Sport Management aims to provide meaningful context and practical application of concepts leading students to globally recognised qualifications and global career opportunities.
In addition to the DP courses, students complete University level CrS courses from the World Academic of Sport:

Interdisciplinary Career Studies
Arizona State University (ASU) offers Career-Related Studies (CRS) as part of the IB Career-related Programme (CP). This flexible, online programme allows students to earn university credits while exploring career-focused pathways tailored to their interests.
Students can choose from the following pathways:
- General Business: Macroeconomics, Microeconomics, First-Year Composition, Computer Applications and Information Technology, College Algebra or Brief Calculus.
- STEM Foundations: College Algebra, Precalculus or Calculus, Environmental Science, The Living World, Anatomy & Physiology or Introductory Chemistry, Computer Applications, and Technological Systems.
- Health Education: Health and Wellness, Health Professions and the U.S. Healthcare System, Ethics for Healthcare Professionals, Culture and Health, Anatomy & Physiology.
- Education: Exploration of Education, Technology Literacy, Psychology, College Algebra or Mathematics, First-Year Composition.
- Behavioral Sciences: Psychology, Sociology, First-Year Composition, The Living World, College Algebra or Mathematics.
- Sustainability: Introduction to Sustainability, Technological Systems, Environmental Science, Sociology.
- Engineering: Technological Systems, Introduction to Engineering, Precalculus or Calculus for Engineers, General Chemistry for Engineers, First-Year Composition.
- Computer Science: Computer Applications, Principles of Programming, Introduction to Engineering, Technological Systems.
- College Foundations: First-Year Composition, Social and Behavioral Sciences (options include Psychology, Sociology, Economics, and more), Humanities Arts and Design (such as Poetry, History, or Ethics), Mathematics (College Algebra to Calculus), Scientific Thinking (Astronomy, Biology, Chemistry, etc.).
Each pathway is designed to meet general education and university prerequisites, ensuring global transferability while preparing students for higher education or professional careers.
The CP Core
In addition to the DP and University courses, students in the CP complete the CP Core, which provides students with practical, real-world approaches to learning, as well as develops skills and competencies required for lifelong learning
- Personal and professional skills (PPS): students develop attitudes, skills and strategies to be applied to personal and professional situations and contexts now and in the future, by discussing 5 overarching themes like ethics and intercultural understanding
- Reflective Project (RP): an in-depth body of work produced over an extended period of time. It is submitted towards the end of the CP, addressing an ethical issue arising from their career-related studies. High-level research, writing and extended communication skills, intellectual discovery and creativity go into this project.
- Service learning (SL): a research-based approach in which students undertake service initiatives related to topics studied previously in their academic disciplines, utilising skills, understandings and values developed in these studies.
- Language development (LD): encourages students to improve their proficiency in a language other than their best language. Essential to the IB’s concept of an international education.

IB Diploma Programme
Established in 1968 for students aged 16-19, the IB Diploma Programme (DP) is an internationally recognised academic programme designed to meet the needs of motivated high school students, providing them with a balanced education, and facilitating geographic and cultural mobility, while promoting international understanding. A comprehensive two-year programme that enables students to fulfil the requirements of various national education systems around the world, the IBDP’s curriculum model incorporates the best elements of several national assessment systems.
Students select six courses that they study for two years while also completing a compulsory core (see the diagram above). Each course lasts two years, from Grade 11 to 12 and in May of the Grade 12 year, the students sit for the IBDP standardised, external examinations.
High School Diploma Programme (HSDP) as part of the IB Diploma Programme at IGBIS
Every student at IGBIS is completing a High School Diploma, as we are a credit bearing school and the completion of the HSD is a graduation requirement. This means that all IGBIS students in the IB Diploma Programme and in the IB career-related programme also complete a High School Diploma on top of their IB Diplomas and certificates.
